Lilac and lovely Winter Greens

A lovely lilac color was complemented by a wonderfully unique winter green: pearl acacia.  Pearl acacia is often looked at as a fairly woody, tough evergreen, but here it looks soft and feminine.  Plus, the bluish tone looks so pretty with lilac, don't you think?

These bouquets are simply sweet smelling lilac and white freesia, white lisianthus, and pearl acacia greens.  Some lisianthus buds were placed higher for a more natural feel to the shape.  The bridal bouquet had a slight cascade effect.

Rehearsing in Luminous Pinks

My stepbrother recently got married (a beautiful bride and wedding, by the way) and I had the honor of doing some centerpieces for the rehearsal dinner.

These large centerpieces contained roses, alstroemeria, and variegated pittosporum greenery with a lace trim around the neck of the vase.  Large cylinder vases with a slight flare help make a natural looking arrangement.

Congratulations and welcome to the family to my new sister-in-law!

Tropical red and white

These red and white blooms make you feel like you're on the beach in Tahiti...or southern California, at least!  The bride wanted a tropical feel for the wedding flowers and it ended up looking lush.

The bride had a slight cascading style bouquet of white orchids, white lilies, red ginger flowers, red anthurium, lily grass, and both varigated and green ti leaves and mostera leaves.  White orchids, red ginger and similar greens filled the bridesmaids' complementary bouquets.

Summer (ice) cream and Pink

Cream and hot pink make a charming pair in this one.  Pink gets a little mundane, until you add a bit of ivory to bring out the summery yellow centers of these open roses.   (This was an "I don't have time to go to the real flower market so I just went to the grocery store" kind of flower day!)

Hot pink and cream/pink alstromerias are arranged with hot pink and light pink-tipped ivory roses.  The greenery is part of the alstromerias left in place.

Vivacious Violets for a Coming Arrival

Purples have an affinity for spring greens in a mix of wildflower style with refined design.  These centerpieces were created for an amazing friend's baby shower who isn't sure if it's a boy or a girl!

The two different sets of centerpieces were created in mason jars of two different heights with purples and greens.  In both, purple larkspur, stock, and darker lisianthus complement bright green Bells of Ireland and wildflower style bupluerum.  White snapdragons were used to brighten up the effect.

Peacocks in Bloom

What could be more on trend than peacock feathers with your blooms for a unique bridal bouquet?

This bride's choice combined two of my favorite things: peacock jewel-tones and gorgeous florals. The bouquet is made with silk plum hydrangeas, golden garden roses, light blue/green delphiniums and bright white calla lilies to bring it a fresh wedding feel.

Falling into Winter

Who needs the traditional orange, red and yellow fall arrangement when you can have something so much more?

For a Thanksgiving/Christmas celebration, this centerpiece showed off cinnamon colored spider mums, deep red dahlias, dark golden mini cymbidium orchids and ivory lisianthus to brighten things up. The accents of deep purple (maybe some type of eucalyptus) were a "greenery" that I've never seen before but love!
